I suggest booking 12 to 18 months before your wedding. That window gives you the best chance of securing your date, especially a Saturday in peak season, and those are always the first to go.

Your date is secured once your Booking Retainer Fee clears; until then it isn’t held for anyone. If your wedding is less than a year away, send the date through anyway. Every enquiry gets a same-day reply, so you’ll know straight away whether it’s free.

Yes. The KZN Midlands is where most of my weddings happen, and Nottingham Road, Howick, Balgowan, Curry’s Post and Lions River are regular ground. I also DJ weddings in Durban itself, in Ballito and on the North Coast, on the South Coast and in the Drakensberg.

Travel is charged per kilometre, return, unless your package already includes it. Venues more than 100 km or about an hour from Durban need accommodation for the DJ and assistant. The terms set out exactly how that works.

Your wedding carries on. My battery-operated sound equipment runs without mains power, so garden, forest, farm and beach ceremonies are covered even where there isn’t a plug point in sight.

For load-shedding, I offer an inverter as an option to keep the music going through an outage. If your venue is in an area that gets load-shedding, mention it when you ask for a quote and it will be added to your setup. Backup equipment also travels to every wedding, so a fault on the night is an inconvenience rather than a silence.

Absolutely. Each part of your day gets its own PA system: one for the ceremony, one for pre-drinks and canapés, and one for the reception. Nothing has to be packed up and carried across the venue while your guests wait.

You can expect to pay between R17,000 and R25,000 for a professional wedding DJ in the KZN Midlands or Durban.

Where you land in that range depends on what your day needs: your guest numbers, whether you need sound for the ceremony and canapés as well as the reception, lighting and cold sparks, MC services, and travel to your venue. A Booking Retainer Fee secures your date, and the balance is paid 30 days before the wedding.

Yes. I’m a professional, Toastmasters-trained wedding MC, and booking one person for both means nothing is lost in the handover between the speeches and the dancefloor. MC services are a paid add-on to your DJ package. More about the Wedding MC service.
