This policy applies to www.jarrydsunkel.co.za, the website of KZN Wedding DJ, operated by Jarryd Sunkel. It explains what happens to your information when you visit this site and when you contact us about a booking.
1. Who we are
KZN Wedding DJ is a wedding DJ and MC service operated by Jarryd Sunkel, based in Durban and serving the KZN Midlands and the rest of KwaZulu-Natal. For the purposes of POPIA, Jarryd Sunkel is the responsible party for the personal information described here.

2. What this website collects
This website is deliberately simple. It has no contact form, no accounts, no logins, no shopping cart and no payment processing. It does not run advertising or analytics software, and it does not use tracking cookies.
Two things are nevertheless worth stating plainly:
- Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting provider records standard technical details of each request — IP address, date and time, the page requested, and your browser type. These are generated by the web server, used to keep the site running securely, and not used to build a profile of you.
- One browser storage item. If the “check availability” prompt appears and you close it, the site stores a single flag in your browser’s session storage so it does not reappear during that visit. It contains no personal information, is not a cookie, is never sent to us, and disappears when you close the tab.
3. Information you give us directly
When you enquire about a booking, you choose what to send us — typically your name, contact details, wedding date and venue. Enquiries reach us by email, telephone, WhatsApp, or through the contact form on our sister site, kznweddingdj.co.za. That form is hosted on that site and is covered by its own privacy notice.
We use what you send us only to answer your enquiry, quote for your date, and — if you book — to plan and perform at your wedding. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing.
4. Cookies
This website sets no cookies of its own. Two embedded third-party services may set their own when their content loads, and both are described in the next section.
5. Third-party services on this site
Three external services are used, and each necessarily sees your IP address when its content loads, because that is how the internet delivers a file to you:
- Google Fonts serves the typeface used across the site.
- Spotify provides the playlist previews on the song suggestions page. Spotify may set its own cookies when you play an embedded playlist.
- Our hosting provider stores and serves the site itself.
We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, how these third parties handle information collected through their own services.
6. Links to other websites
This site links out to wedding venues, our sister sites, WhatsApp and our social media profiles. Once you follow a link away from this website you are on someone else’s property, under their privacy policy, not ours. We would encourage you to read it.
7. Photographs
The photographs on this site are of real weddings we have worked. If you are pictured in any image here and would prefer not to be, email us and we will remove it — no explanation required.
8. How long we keep things
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to answer you and, if you book, for the duration of the booking plus the period we are required to keep business records. Server logs are retained by our host on their own short technical schedule. When information is no longer needed for any of these purposes, it is deleted.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS with a valid certificate, so traffic between your browser and the site is encrypted. Because there is no form, no database and no login on this website, there is no store of visitor personal information here to breach. Correspondence you send us is held in our ordinary business email and phone accounts, which are password protected. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
This site is aimed at adults planning weddings and events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights under POPIA
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
- Object to us using your information for a particular purpose.
- Complain to the Information Regulator.
