About Highgate Wine Estate
Highgate is a family-run wine estate on the R103 at Lions River, in the heart of the Midlands Meander, making 100 percent estate-grown wines. Between the vineyards, the cellar and a restaurant that looks out over the vines, it works as a wedding venue and as a day out for guests who arrive early.
Weddings use both the indoor and outdoor spaces, and there is accommodation on the estate so the party does not have to end with a drive back down the R103. Vineyard tours, cellar access and tastings are part of what the estate does the rest of the week.
The reception room is red brick with a high pitched ceiling, an exposed timber beam and clusters of cage pendants — a warm, hard-surfaced space that takes colour beautifully and needs its sound placed with a little care.
