About Granny Mouse

Granny Mouse Country House & Spa sits at Balgowan, looking out over the Caversham Valley. It is one of the best-known names in the Midlands and has been doing weddings long enough to have the whole thing down to a routine — in the good sense.

The chapel is air-conditioned with panoramic valley views, and the reception venue seats up to 120. Everything is on one property: the culinary team, the pastry chef for the cake, and a spa for the morning before.

Accommodation runs from hotel rooms to a 12-sleeper farmhouse about 900 metres from the hotel, so the wedding party can be close without being on top of each other.

A 120-guest room

This is a room that rewards restraint. Oversized sound in a space this size just makes people shout over dinner, so it gets scaled to the count and lifted for the dancing.

Chapel with a view

The chapel looks out over the valley, which means glass and hard surfaces. The ceremony runs on its own discreet system placed for that, not carried over from the reception.

Thatch overhead

Thatch absorbs light and sound differently to a painted ceiling. Uplighting gets warmer and closer in so the roof glows rather than disappearing into the dark.
